Pedestrians have a tendency to take the shortest route, even if that route goes via a route that are officially does not allow pedestrians, they tend to climb over barriers and fences, and will on occasion use roads that do not have specific pedestrian footways at the side, or worse, will walk short(er) stretches on roads where this is completely forbidden, like motorways.
For all of the above, it would be nice to actually be able to show the distance between waypoints. (The maps of the 10^100 empire have a "Measure distance" option that just measures the distance)
