-startAutomaticChecksWithInterval: should immediately check for updates

When I first launch the app, it should check for updates. It looks like -startAutomaticChecksWithInterval: only checks after the interval.

I'm ambivalent about this. Client applications can always initiate a manual check, but they wouldn't be able to skip the initial check if they'd want to (for whatever reason).

For example, GitHub for Mac shouldn't check for updates until after user information is loaded, because that affects which versions are served. We could wait to call -startAutomaticChecks… until that point, but that introduces unnecessary ordering dependencies.

I'd argue basically every app would want this behavior. Worst case, GHfM can manually check again after loading user info.

How do I "initiate a manual check"? I don't see any API for this in SQRLUpdater.h

Let's say I set the interval to be 4 hours. Yesterday morning, the user left the app running for 3 hours and then quitted it. Today if he launches the app, will Squirrel check for update immediately?

Sorry I haven't read the source code carefully as I am not familiar with ReactiveCocoa.

Squirrel doesn't persist any memory of the update interval, and so will not check for updates immediately no matter what—which is part of the reason we suggest checking for updates immediately upon launch. Then you start the clock for future checks from that point in time.
